About Paul Czaiński

I am a gallery artist at Gladwell Patterson, Knightsbridge, London, Staithes Gallery, North Yorkshire
and Water Street Gallery, Todmorden, West Yorkshire.

I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember and sold paintings in my teens to friends, shops etc to supplement my pocket money.

I was accepted at Leeds College of Art and Goldsmiths in London, culminating in a three person sculpture show in 1976 at The Elephant House Gallery, Goldsmiths.  My contribution was a series of painted sculptures incorporating techniques such as graining, marbling and bronzing. Straight out of college I met and worked with the top interior decorators of the time and became the most sought after specialist artist/decorator in Britain.

Projects both at home in the UK and around the world ranged from murals, trompe l'oeil paintings, restoring historic painted decorations, graining and marbling to designing letterheads, fabrics and wallpapers.

For a few years now I have concentrated on working in the studio and produce paintings, drawings and prints for various galleries and private clients.

I share studios with my wife Chris.  We have homes near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire and at Staithes near Whitby, a popular artists' retreat.
